I hope I’m not the only one who has retrieved a wedding registry list and stared at it with a blank expression, totally unsure where to start. No, just me!? On the off chance you have ever found yourself wondering how to pick the perfect thing to say congratulations, while also giving something unique and special but also something perfectly useful and valuable…then this post is for you. While in the middle of wedding season, we thought it a great time to ask our brides what was/is the best gift they received?! Below are some of our most popular answers:
Gift Card (one mentioned a spa gift card – WIN!)
Dinner Plates/Dishes
Coffee Maker (UM, yes!)
Rice Steamer or other small kitchen appliances
Handmade Items (such as quilt or personalized items)
Best Answer: Cotten Candy Maker!
One of our brides shared, “One of our favorite gifts was so simple, salt and pepper shakers! You wouldn’t believe how happy we were to receive them! We felt so silly one night when a coworker (had come) over for dinner and we had to offer salt on the table with a spoon!!!” We love this illustration because it goes to show, never overestimate the simple gifts.
Ginger, who thinks it’s been so long since she got married, said she got a tupperware storage saver thing (example) that she’s consistently used of over the years. If she could go back and re-register she would be sure to put a good vacuum or shark steam mop on her registry this time! Jonathan and I actually did get the shark steam mop which we love (thanks Jessica & Chris)…but would vote our Kitchen Aid and Anodized Pans at the top or our favorite gifts. If I were to re-register…I think a Keurig would be sure to make our list!
Finally, while considering this post I did a little online research and CBS News posted an article explaining gift giving etiquette that gives some good tips and even some thoughts on how much to allocate across the wedding gifting process (shower, bachelorette, etc)!
Happy Gifting!
XO – Sarah & Ginger
