The day always lingers for a bride, just more details to primp and prep and double check. Brynne and her ladies arrived and busied with all such details. Soon she was ready for a first look with her dad. We just love these moments. Carving out space to acknowledge and be present together. Brynne’s look with her dad was full of tender joy. Shortly there after, it was time for the big reveal…there was this moment, this pause as Brynne put her hands on Jerome’s arms – signaling her arrival – where they seemed to pause together and value that anticipation of the a moment before he turned to take in his bride. It’s impossible to describe, but one of the amazing elements of being a wedding photographer.
Baptized two days apart (he in Tennessee, she in Kansas City right there at the Cure of Ars), this day was destined to be. They met at a young adults volleyball game at their new parish in Chicago and a such date lead to September 21st on a rooftop where Jerome decided to ask and she said yes! I was really struck by the priest’s encouragement for them to pray gratitude for one another daily, to talk and communicate daily. He spoke to these as the keys to their successful married life. To live out of a place of gratitude even when coming to that place requires effort is, I think, the best marriage advice once can give or receive. For Brynne & Jerome it was a touching ceremony, filled with personalized decisions and participants, specifically chosen music and musicians, all coming together as a room full of people standing and saying yes we will support and love you as you move into this new life together!
Join us back for the rest of the portraits at the Nelson Atkin Museum of Art and lots of great wedding festivities at Mission Hills Country Club.
