From the moment we met these two we instantly liked them. They have a way about them that makes you look forward to the next time you will see them. They are easy to laugh, and Brett is forever self-depreciating in his humor. And when they sat in our office and told us about their engagement story, well we knew right then and there that they were our kind of couple. See Brett had the whole thing planned out, what he wasn’t planning on what a hangry girlfriend! So when they went to grab a gluten free burger at Red Robin and Gerica kept asking him what was going on with him he finally just blurted out the proposal!
Shortly after getting engaged the couple decided to work with Shana Vaughn Designs for all of the floral and wedding design. When we were secured for the wedding too we couldn’t have been more excited if we tried. Between the couple’s ideas and Shana’s taste no detail was left untouched the day of the wedding. At one point I heard a guest compliment Becky, Gerica’s mom, on the decor and said, “Did you do all of this?” and she replied, “Absolutely not! We hired Shana!”. In full disclosure my own wedding colors were pink and green so I may be a little biased here, but seriously, look at these flowers (insert heart eyes).
Love this black and white of Brett getting ready, it just feels classic. They made so many great choices for their wedding. The bridal portraits of Gerica are also some of our favorites from this season.
Brett and Gerica opted for a first look prior to the wedding. Brookside Gardens has an outdoor space that we chose to use as our backdrop. Every bride deserves to get a reaction like Brett’s :)
They also had spent many months preparing gifts for each other prior to the wedding. Gerica received jewelry (#winning) and Brett was given a hand painted globe and a gift certificate to go sky diving!
As if this post hasn’t gotten enough pretty in it, here are some of our favorites from their portrait collection. The area around the venue is still heavily being developed so we took a quick drive up the street for these. The drive was worth it (sometimes we question whether to stay or go on a wedding day with the timeline) when we found this church and backdrop. It seemed to perfectly match them and their wedding.
To sound really cheesy – they look soooo happy, which is definitely one of the top reasons we love being a wedding photographer. That picture below with Gerica’s laugh and the flowers is a definite favorite from this year. Though honestly all of these have our heart in big ways, that is partially because they are pretty but also because these two are just flat out amazing people who we loved getting to work with (and are now missing now that the wedding is over!).
Check out the second half of Brett & Gerica’s wedding day at Brookside Gardens, be sure to stop by and take a look!
