That title says it all, after years (seriously) of debating whether or not we should change our business name we have decided to make the leap and do it. Why? The name Creative Event Studio has served us well over the last 8 years but to be honest, after the first year we knew that it just wasn’t ‘right’. Many of you will remember that when we first launched the business we had intentions of doing photography and event design. We still love a great party, but we pretty quickly decided that photography was the best fit for us. The bad part is that after we dropped that service offering our name really didn’t make sense. The side effect of the ‘bad’ name is that because we are a two person team (and the two of us are often confused for the other at first meeting) is that it wasn’t memorable. If by chance someone did remember the name then they didn’t necessarily remember our names, if they did remember our personal names then they couldn’t remember the business name. That’s just not good!
The overwhelming response to this change so far has been very positive! In our hearts we feel like this change is good. Nothing else about us is changing, just the name. We are still the same girls, same photography, same products – just a new name! We are excited about this new chapter (even though the paperwork is such a drudge to get through) and beyond happy to have a name that we feel matches us and our service.
If you are already following along with us on social media then the only difference that you may notice are the handles. Instead of being known as @photosbyces we will be @sarahgingerphoto. Follow us on Instagram, or on Facebook.
What do you guys think – is the new name better? And what do you think of the logo? We big, puffy heart love it. ;)

Our mama hearts love when brides choose to do a first look with their dad. There is something very sweet about those moments and we really value brides that take time to build these types of gestures into their day. Above is Emily & her dad. Such a touching moment, tears, smiles and such joy. Below is Julie and her dad were no exception. Julie’s mom, Kelly, is not pictured below but her face watching the whole thing echoed our hearts so much.

Belvoir Winery in Liberty, MO is one of our favorite spots for an engagement sessions here in the northland. It’s got a creepy history, old buildings, wine and open skies…what’s not to love?! These two are about the sweetest things you’ll meet. Enjoy their session from this summer.
Malinda & Burton met us a warm fall Sunday afternoon to wonder around the Nelson Atkins Art Museum. These two are kind and easy to work with. We are thrilled to be documenting their story.
Can’t wait for your wedding! XO – Sarah & Ginger
We’re returning today with Katie & Brandon’s ceremony & reception. Longview Mansion has a beautiful outdoor space, just as guests began to gather a light sprinkle that threatened to become a downpour, encouraged this ceremony begin promptly. This ceremony was sweet, accompanied by tears as these two sweethearts promised to grow together forever.
AH! Way to go Bradon, he set a high standard for a kiss at the alter! As is our custom, we whisk the couple away at the end of the isle for a few more portraits. In this case, we’d got a good session earlier in the day, but we were thrilled by the totally different vide and time to capture some more elegant and classic portraits for this couple.
Party time! Up lights, chandeliers, florals, awesome beats, great food and a wonderful time was had by all! You know we love a good dancing crowd, and this reception did not disappoint!
Brandon & Katie – Thank you for letting us tell your story. We enjoyed our time with you (& your families!!). We wish you much love and happiness for the rest of forever! XO – Ginger & Sarah

Looking back at the pictures now that the wedding is a several months removed is making me smile so big trying to come up with words for this post. Brandon and Katie were high school sweethearts so their wedding day was filled with common friends and families that are already intertwined as family. They chose Longview Mansion for their wedding day and it was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and reception. We loved exploring the sprawling estate together. We ended up with 2 full portrait sessions (which is rare) with two completely different looks and styles. We will show one half today and the other on Thursday so make sure to stop back by to see the photos in front of the mansion.
I’m just going to get it out in the open, we adore Brandon. He is a complete stand up guy, and even in his goofiness was so thoughtful to us throughout the entire day. This group of guys were really fun to get to watch and document. They thought that they were giving us a run for our money-HA!
The ladies were so calm in their getting ready and we loved their matching shirts. Longview Mansion has the prettiest spaces and the bridal suite was amazing. Their colorful shirts and dresses were a great ‘pop’ of color all throughout the day.
Katie is such a fun personality, and is so quick with her laughter. We loved getting to know her mom, Donna, throughout the wedding planning process. Donna may have a future as a wedding planner judging by her ‘Katie & Brandon’ wedding binder. :)
And people, this is exactly what weddings look like. While women do all the things men do stuff like this:
The ladies rocked out their portrait session. As photographers it’s a joy to photograph people who are comfortable being themselves in front of the camera and show us their friendship instead of making us draw it out of them. Both the guys and the girls ended with both casual and editoral group photos that we equally loved.
Katie & Brandon chose to do a first look and Pergola Park was a great backdrop for such intimate photos. All the angles we were able to capture in this short amount of time tell this moment perfectly. I really have no favorite image from the group below because they all tell a story of their own. This was such a fun adventure on the wedding day navigating down to the pergola (to get to the good spot you have a go through weeds and there are lots of bugs) and our effort paid off. Where else can you find a place so stunning?
After our bridal portraits we caught back up with the rest of our wedding party. We took the photos we wanted in front of the venue but there were lots like the ones below it too. We don’t always show the silly side of our work but I felt remiss if I didn’t with this collection. Brandon’s pose popped up a few times through the day as his signature look :)
Longview Mansion is a stunning estate everywhere you look. There are several choices of ceremony site and this one with the hanging trees did not disappoint. We will show off the ceremony on Thursday and you don’t want to miss it because there are some fabulous shots.
Don’t miss out on part two of this big day!
