The night we took possession of our house the Gaikwads came over to take a look and Sarah took a few pictures of us too. We did a session of she and Jon when they bought their house and thought it was so fun we decided to do it this time too. This is where being friends with a photographer pays off. :)
We got into our new house at pretty much the worst time for photos – 5 pm in December. That means that it is pitch black out. Combine zero natural light with bad overhead lighting and no off camera flash and you’re going to end up with a lot of black and white images, haha. These pictures pretty much sum up the range of emotions that were happening in those first moments of ‘living’ here. I think it hit Chris and I that we were moving so we were a little bit freaking out. The kids were excited. Why do kids need toys when they could just run around totally empty rooms?! Instead of rambling, I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking:
Also as a complete surprise the previous owners had to come back by because they had forgotten a few items (towels are important!), so we were able to get a picture of us together. We had the BEST experience with our selling/buying process and something about this house and our dealing with them just gave us good vibes.
This house is a totally blank canvas for us to begin telling our family’s story on. I’m starting to form plans for how to decorate and the changes we’d like to make. One thing that I know for sure though is that the things I thought the day we looked at it – about how liveable it is here – are 100% true. And that is such a happy, happy reality to get to live right now.
Lastly I would be remiss not to give a huge THANK YOU to my amazing best friend and business partner, Sarah, for taking these photos. She already knows my thanks, but without her the last few months would have been MUCH harder as she not only picked up all of my professional slack but also had patience with me when I had none to give to anyone else. Life is much easier when lives with friends, is it not?
