Recently we were driving home from a wedding and were discussing the wedding we had just spent the day with. We reflected on the couple and their excitement and commitment to each other and to honoring God with their marriage. It was a good day. And the more we talked the more we couldn’t help but be totally blown away with the blessings that God has bestowed on our little business. The wedding industry can potentially be a challenging environment to work in. Anytime you mention you are a wedding photographer you are usually greeted with, “I’m sure you’ve got some good stories!”, and while that sometimes is true, it generally isn’t. There really aren’t as many bridezillas out there as people imagine! The boring reality of being a wedding photographer, at least for us, is that our clients are so so so great. They are respectful of us, their families are welcoming, and we honestly feel as if we make new friends at nearly every wedding we photograph. Being able to be apart of someone’s wedding day is an honor. As the photographer we are usually granted access to some of the most personal parts of the wedding – many that we often don’t feature here on the blog. We are given people’s trust. In return we hope to provide the images that match their memories for the rest of their lives. Selfishly, being apart of someone else’s wedding day makes you think of all of the people you love the best. At every ceremony we think of our husbands during the vows. During the father/daughter & mother/son dances we think of our kids. When we photograph group photos we think of our best friends. How many people can say that their job let’s them make new friends and is a constant reminder of all the people they love the most?
I’m not entirely sure what the point of this blog post is other than to thank the Lord for blessing this little space of ours. We see how each of our paths have led us to where we are today and are so thankful for the experiences that got us here. We feel God working in our business and with the clients that we are booking. Thank you to everyone who follows along in this space and is a cheerleader for us along the way. Bigger thanks to all of our non-bridezilla brides :)
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
