Our mama hearts love when brides choose to do a first look with their dad. There is something very sweet about those moments and we really value brides that take time to build these types of gestures into their day. Above is Emily & her dad. Such a touching moment, tears, smiles and such joy. Below is Julie and her dad were no exception. Julie’s mom, Kelly, is not pictured below but her face watching the whole thing echoed our hearts so much.
Back for part two of Sara & Adam’s wedding, get caught up here. As Sara and her mom came down the aisle all the energy and anticipation of her heart were so visible…and so endearing…what an honor to watch them tie their lives together.
We always take our couples for 10-15 minutes IMMEDIATELY following the ceremony. We usually just stand back and let them be married, it’s one of the few spaces they get to just be together with minimal interruption. Often our favorite portraits come out of these times…Sara & Adam were no exception.
Sara had raved about Town Square, so we walked in with high expectations…and they were not dashed. They were fantastic and helped pull all Sara’s vision together.
Here’s where the DJ scratches the record and you hear, “it’s time to get funky.” Hankerchiefs go flying, dollar bills are flung about…the group new what a party should look like…and we loved it! They knew how to PAR-TAY! After toasts and cake the dancing really started…
Sara & Adam, we wish you a lifetime of dance parties, soccer games, laughter, joy and most of all love!! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. XO- Sarah & Ginger

Last year we had the opportunity to work with some truly amazing couples. We were SO humbled when we began receiving reviews from them on The Knot saying how happy they were with their experience. Here are a few highlights:
From our first meeting with them to our wedding review session, these two have been absolutely amazing. As individuals, Sarah and Ginger are equally creative and hard working, so putting them together creates quite the fantastic duo! CES not only helped us with the photography side of the wedding, but they brought with them a lot of experience on how weddings look, feel, run, etc. If you are the type that would prefer to just have your best friend taking pictures, but want to guarantee great quality photos, then these two are for you! Throughout your whole experience, these two will make you feel as though you have known them for years and you’d like to continue knowing them for years to come! – Zach
I’m not sure there are words to describe how amazing Ginger and Sarah were on our wedding day. From our first contact with them to our last they were nothing but professional, courteous, and helpful. This is saying a lot because they live in Kansas City while we live in St. Louis, a good four hour drive. They created our timeline for our whole day – SO helpful. We were able to plan our entire wedding around their timeline. I’m really not sure what we would have done with out them. They lifted a huge weight from our shoulders. Our formal photos were completed without any issues because everything was planned ahead of time. They work like a well oiled machine. Whenever I asked for additional photos or for them to capture a moment, it was never a problem and they were more than willing to do whatever we wanted – always with a smile. We haven’t seen all of our photos yet but the ones we have seen are fantastic. Sarah and Ginger are able to capture the feel of the moment and not just snap a picture. In the world of wedding photographers, these ladies are stellar. Wedding photography is one of the biggest decision you will make for your big day and they went above and beyond what we could have expected at a reasonable price, to boot! I look forward to these pictures hanging on the walls of our homes for the rest of our years. – Brooke
Sarah and Ginger were great! They were very organized and were able to capture great photos and stay on schedule. They even went above and beyond their roles as photographers by helping with other aspects of the wedding as well! We had so much fun working with Sarah and Ginger and we will definitely recommend them to all of our friends! – Katie
If you are reading reviews to find the photographer for your wedding, look no further. Ginger and Sarah are exactly what you will be looking for when trying to find someone to document your special day(s). The quality of the photographs are amazing and their creativity is perfect. Their professionalism is top notch, but their personalities make them the perfect choice for you. The photography sessions weren’t daunting or nerve-wracking because they made it relaxing, flexible, and fun. Their wedding wisdom and experience was a huge help when we had questions as well. My wife and I were extremely pleased with our photos and grateful to get to know Ginger and Sarah. You will not be disappointed! We are looking forward to using them again in our future. -Mick
Because our clients are AWESOME (seriously) we have been given an award! We were SO excited when we got the email saying we had been chosen for The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2015. This is given to the top 2% of wedding vendors – WOW! HUGE thank you to ALL of our couples who went online and left us reviews. Your kind words not only helped us win this award but they stand as reinforcement and encouragement as to why we do what we do. (You can see all of our reviews by clicking here.) You guys rock!
XOXO – Ginger & Sarah
We first met Megan 2 years ago when she jumped in and collaborated with us the styled shoot we did at The Journey Home. She was wonderful to work with (and her cake was AMAZING) so when she and Enrique came to us about photographing their wedding we couldn’t have been happier. (You can catch up with them here to see their engagement session.) From the beginning of their wedding planning they raved about their venue, The Stanley in Lee’s Summit. When we walked it and saw it we knew immediately why they fell in love with it. The space is cozy and romantic – just perfect for these two!
I think that Megan must have an eye for shoes. For her engagement session she had a fabulous pair of red peep toes. I have a love for peep toes as well so I was in love when I saw the blue ones she had for the wedding day. The day of the wedding the weather was COLD. Luckily The Stanley provided an awesome indoor alternative for the girls to stay inside for their portrait session. The girls rocked through all of Sarah and I’s directed photos and then had a request of their own – to do the Bridesmaids pose. We’ve had wedding parties do it before but we’ve never had a group nail it quite as well as these ladies.
The men were more appropriately dressed for the cold weather (so many layers) so we strolled around The Stanley for their photos. Enrique is a huge super hero fan and requested the photo below. His groomsmen were great sports about it!
We’ll be back on Thursday with the second half of this wedding, featuring photographs from the ceremony and reception. Make sure and stop back by!

We had never met Jon before the wedding day because he is currently in the Marines and stationed in North Carolina. Kelly, her mom Joy, and her sister Erin, had done the bulk of the wedding planning (and some really fabulous DIY’s). Kelly is bubbly and fun and as much as we enjoyed being around her we had no idea what to expect from Jon.
When we arrived at The Montgomery Venue in Excelsior Springs we met up with Kelly, her mom, and the bridesmaids. We took a few minutes to grab some detail images (can you believe this bouquet – so adorable!), then Kelly got ready, and we snuck away for some girl time. We loved the white and cream mismatched dresses donned by the girls that gave the wedding party a very layered and relaxed feel. Joy admitted during our image review that she doubted Kelly’s choice to do the mismatched dresses but that she loved the variety of it in the end.
When Jon arrived at the venue to get married he met us at the door and graciously handed over all of his accessories and his uniform. Most of our grooms don’t have many special accessories for us to photograph so we really enjoyed capturing these images of Jon’s attire. (These are the types of things that wedding photographers geek out over.)
After everyone had gotten ready and the groups had been photographed we headed a little further north to Kelly’s parents home where the ceremony was to be held. (Can we just take a minute to say how much we enjoy backyard weddings?) Though it had been raining the bulk of the week, and even that morning, the weather cleared just in time for beautiful blue skies to shine on the ceremony for Jon and Kelly to exchange heartfelt vows under the trees of her childhood home in front of their closest family and friends.
We will be featuring part 2 of this wedding on Thursday so make sure and come back to see their gorgeous bridal portraits and a recap of the reception. You will not want to miss those!
Immediately following Kyle & Austin’s ceremony we snuck away with them for a few minutes. We love getting the chance right after the ceremony to let the couple enjoy being together, to soak in being married. The rain continued, but we had no trouble finding some spots for a few portraits of the two of them before heading into the reception.
The reception started off with the introduction of the couple, their first dance & cake cutting. After everyone enjoyed some delicious food (seriously, we really liked their food!) and some time with the photo booth, it was time to start the party!
There was no fear of an empty dance floor with this group. Family & friends filed out as the music began. We had lots of fun watching everyone – as always we were just jealous we didn’t get to dance too!
We wish you both many years of happiness together! Thank you for inviting us to be apart of your wedding day and allowing us to capture these images for you! XO – Ginger & Sarah

To say we adore Marcy & Bryan (known to his nearest and dearest as Barney), would be an understatement. Our first email from Marcy, listed The Journey Home as her venue. Curiosity over a new venue, some emails and a drive up north led us to meet & fall in love with this charming barn venue & it’s amazing coordinator Laura! So later during our first time meeting Marcy in the office, feeling like long lost friends was only natural. We were over the moon when she emailed us back quickly saying that Barney – who couldn’t make the meeting- said if she loved us, he loved us and thus we marked their date for October.
After the sneak peek in perfectly windy & cool October weather, we took off to “explore” downtown. Unbeknownst to Marcy, Barney had reached out to us and we’d worked together to create a very fun surprise for her! Side note: Marcy had worked with us previously on her surprise wedding gift for Barney ;) these two are the sweetest! Back to wedding day, they had been working together to restore a truck, from what Marcy knew they wouldn’t be able to have all of it done in order to have it part of their big day (as was their hope). While Marcy was attending to the final pieces of wedding prep, Barney had been finishing the truck. He’d gotten into town early and in what we learned to be true Barney fashion, made friends with a guy who had a garage that he could keep it in until the big reveal. That’s just the sort of guy he is, one to work hard to surprise his bride and to endear himself to those around him while in the process. We sort of became smitten with him too! We love that he’d done this and then worked out a plan so we could capture her beautiful reaction!
After our time with the couple, we met up with the Best Lady – Marcy’s sister and Best Man – Barney’s nephew. One of our favorite parts of being a part of this wedding, was the sense of family & relationship that was present in every choice. The way they approached the day, was so intentionally focused on relationship…after spending the last year and half getting to know them, we know this is just an overflow of who they are.

We’re back for day two of Mike & Melissa’s wedding (catch up with this fantastic couple here). As time for the ceremony neared, the sun began to tuck just below the tree line, casting the perfect October glow for the occasion.
The ceremony was personal, and performed by a friend. He explained that as they made this choice, investing in one another and realizing the other’s value was of paramount importance. He spoke of God’s value and expectations for marriage, he challenged, encouraged and affirmed them. Vows, rings & a kiss were exchanged…and then it was official!
We snuck away for a few minutes with the newlyweds…such a favorite part of any wedding day…just as they’ve come down the isle, greeted, bustled and kissed by their best and then we get to give them space to savor their new reality! Melissa rocked it (look at her being fierce!)
Reception time! They had live music for their first dance, twinkle lights accenting the romantic vibe and moving toasts expressing love for the couple.
Mike & Melissa, We’re so blessed that you chose us to capture your love. We have COMPLETELY loved getting to know you, look forward to opportunities to see you again! We wish you sweetness, laughter and a lifetime of wedded bliss. XO Sarah & Ginger

These two are really incredible people, put them together and the world is simply a better place. They are attentive, funny and genuine. We immediately felt comfortable around them and getting to know them felt natural and easy from the beginning. It’s so simple to see why they are choosing to spend their lives together…because when they are together they are more themselves then ever before.
We showed up to Melissa prepping for her big day in the coziness of her own house…the home she’s building with Mike. She was surrounded by family and friends. Mike left a really sweet letter and beautiful necklace for his wife-to-be to open as she prepped, as you can see, he did good!
We left the ladies and headed to the hotel to meet up with the guys. I love how Mike was helping everyone else get ready, speaks to his character. This group of guys was so laid back and relaxed, they were just having fun being together…gotta love that!
We met with Mike & Melissa, as we always do, a month before their wedding. Melissa had been doing lots of DIY, scouting of the perfect items, dreaming and preparing…but man was this girl nervous about how it was going to come together. She was so nervous it made us nervous. We walked in and were blown away. She had done an excellent job decorating the Gallagher Barn, paying attention to all the smallest of details…like childhood pictures of her and Mike decorating/distinguishing the men/women’s bathroom doors! We really loved how it came together…from the wood chargers, to the wild flowers, to the mason jar favors, to the bunting banners, to the twinkle lights and wedding fabric on the ceiling & around the room…it all came together so wonderfully, a reflection of her work and dedication!
Gallagher Barn is in Bonner Springs and there were some events going on in town, so we opted to hang out at the venue for pictures. Wedding parties like this are fantastic, its so evident that they are there in love and support of the couple. You’d assume that any wedding party would be, and most are, but the authenticity of the people that Mike & Melissa chose to stand in support of them reflects the value they place on relationships in their lives.
Check back on Thursday for more!
